Hi there! Me again… Remember how I was telling you in my last post that I had been working on a cute apron with mittens! Well… drumroll please!! Here you have it!
100% handmade for my friend and boss Ana, who likes to spend time cooking (not like me, that use every occasion to escape entering this weird place called “kitchen”; I must admit that I do cook now and then, basically because we need to eat in this house, but NOT because it relaxes me, like many of my friends say. Nope, what relaxes me is shopping, sewing, traveling, reading, but NOT cooking. But that’s a good subject for another post).
As I was saying, I decided to craft this apron for her because it was her B-day last week and I thought this would be a perfect gift. It turns out she loved it! But you know what, this is not really the story I was going to tell you…
The real story behind this is that in spite of working on this project the ENTIRE day on Saturday, AND half of Sunday, it didn’t feel at all like I was “obliged” to do it, or that I was “working”. Actually, the days passed by so quickly and I didn’t need to eat (which is good, I need to lose weight. AGAIN), did not need to drink (I ended up dehydrated by the end of the week-end…) and totally ignored my husband the entire time (he used this alone time to watch some football games. Go figure!)
I guess what I am trying to say is that when you do what you love, no matter how much work/hours/effort you put into it, it doesn’t really feel like “work”. It feels good, fulfilling, meaningful… It feels like you leave something behind, like what you do actually matters… There is something tangible that other people can see, touch, feel, use, and THAT my friends is what I call BLISS. It’s LIFE, in it’s truest form and it’s healthy, and useful to others, and as I said before… MEANINGFUL.
I really believe we should all find that SOMETHING that we love to do and try to do it as much as possible. Our happiness depends on it, our health (physical and mental) as well. And when we find that something that really makes us happy, we need to figure out how to monetize it (if we can…). Because being able to find the THING that makes you happy doing every day and actually making it to pay the bills is the real essence of what life should be like. No obligations, just doing it because you love it. What can be more fulfilling?
What do YOU love to do? Did you find that something already? I hope you did.
